We have never been to Germany, Austria, Italy, or Switzerland. I adore the Swiss alps, especially in and around the town of Lauterbrunnen. There are lots of activities kids their age would love: hikes, waterfalls, rafting (easy to difficult), luge rides, an awesome castle in Montreux, cable car rides to get up and down the mountains, lake. Following a stop in Valduz, the capital city of Liechtenstein, cross the border into Switzerland and continue through the Swiss Alps where you will spend the next two nights amidst a setting of mountains and lakes. (Breakfast, Dinner) DAY 10 - SWITZERLAND.. Stans – Lucerne – Swiss Alps.

Do it yourself day tour "Best of the Swiss Alps" This extremely varied tour includes the famous Jungfrau, cogwheel train rides, cable cars, the Rhine Falls, the city of Zurich and much more: the highlights of Switzerland in 14 days. You will not change base every day. 2. Splügen Pass, Switzerland/Italy. If you’re heading to the Alps this year, you just have to include this epic mountain pass in your itinerary. The road connects the Swiss Hinterrhein Valley with Valle Spluga in Italy, and it’s surely one of the craziest and enjoyable rides in the Alps.

In The Alps, Stephen O’Shea takes readers up and down these majestic mountains, battling his own fear of heights to journey through a mile arc across France, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia.4/5(40).

This summer we decided to visit the pristine Austrian and Swiss Alps and came up with a 2 week Austria & Switzerland road trip itinerary that covered the some of the best of Alps, at least for a first time trip we are so enamored with this region: the mountains, the windy roads along the clear streams, the pretty villages on the foothills of.

Across the Alps by train: a feast of scenery from Switzerland to Austria After starting in London, this itinerary takes in Lake Geneva, the Austrian Tirol, and the heights of the Zugspitze in.

About Switzerland: Switzerland is officially named the Swiss Confederation. It’s a small mountainous country located in a Center of Western Europe in the Alps and it is bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.

We are traveling to Austria and Italy in May and would love to include a day or 2 in Switzerland. We're flying into Vienna and out of Venice.

So far we have reserved 2 nights in Vienna, 3 nights in Lake Como, and 2 night in Venice. We have a couple of flex days in between Vienna and Como and are. From Innsbruck your drive will take you through the beautiful scenery of Austria and Switzerland’s mountains and lakes to St.

Moritz, where we have arranged your overnight stay. You will pass alpine cattle wearing large cowbells – Swiss farmers have used such bells for centuries to locate their herd as they graze in the Alpine meadows.

The Swiss Alps (German: Schweizer Alpen, French: Alpes suisses, Italian: Alpi svizzere, Romansh: Alps svizras) are the portion of the Alps mountain range that lies within Switzerland.

Because of their central position within the entire Alpine range, they are also known as the Central Alps. The highest summit in the Swiss Alps is Monte Rosa (4, metres (15, ft)) near the Swiss-Italian border. You can see lots more photos and read about my Alps treks and travels in my trip reports pages from the Alps and Europe.

Were thinking Geneva, Zurich, or Basel in Switzerland. Maybe Innsbrook in Austria. (I don't think we're cultured enough for Vienna, ha!) We want to still feel like we're near the Alps but with the benefits of a large city for these 2 more months. Okay, that's it. and I'm going to need some help as I want to book before the first of the year.
